The vineyards of Svätý Jur in Slovakia's Small Carpathians have been producing wine since 1270, before the Netherlands existed as a nation. Their steep limestone slopes were too small to industrialise under communism. The knowledge was never lost.
In 2001, Peter Chowaniec and Juraj Krajčírovič founded their family winery here, dedicated to indigenous varieties grown almost nowhere else. When Juraj passed in 2012, his daughter Jana stepped in to continue his work. Two families. One vineyard. Twenty-five years of quiet dedication.
